Dog Shot Golf Blog – 01/07/2026

Some days just don’t go to plan.

Today was one of those days.

No golf.

Not a single ball hit. Not even one of those practice swings in the garden that somehow nearly takes the washing line out.

Instead, it was a full day in the office, staring out of the window wondering how the fairways were looking without me. There’s something deeply unfair about sitting behind a desk when you know somewhere, someone is four-putting in glorious sunshine.

The golfing partner is away this week too, which leaves me with a dilemma…

Do I brave a solo round tomorrow?

I’ve never been one for talking to strangers on the course, but equally I’ve got a serious itch that only a badly struck 7-iron can scratch. If you see a bloke wandering around talking to his golf ball tomorrow, mind your own business. He’s going through something.

At least there’s the football to look forward to tonight. England take on DR Congo at 5pm, and hopefully by the time you’re reading this we’ll have booked our place in the next round. If not… well, at least I know how to deal with sporting disappointment. I’ve had years of practice every Saturday morning on the golf course.

The exciting bit this week is that we’ve got new Dog Shot Golf stock arriving early next week.

There’s always a bit of nervous excitement when new gear turns up. You’ve spent months looking at designs on a screen, then suddenly they’re real. Fresh out of the box, ready to head out onto golf courses around the country.

Hopefully they’ll be seen by the fairways.

Not on them.

Although if they’re anything like my golf balls, there’s a reasonable chance they’ll end up in the rough at some point.

One thing that’s really hit me recently is how different Dog Shot Golf has become from your typical golf brand.

Most golf companies seem to tell you how to hit it further, dress smarter, lower your handicap and generally become the next Ryder Cup captain.

We’re a bit different.

We’re here for the people who celebrate finding a Pro V1 in the bushes like they’ve won the lottery.

The golfers who clap when someone actually gets out of a bunker first time.

The ones who know the clubhouse is just as important as the course.

The people who play for the stories they’ll tell afterwards.

Somehow, what started as a daft idea has become something that feels… nicer.

Less about selling polos.

More about creating something people want to be part of.

If wearing a Dog Shot Golf polo makes someone smile before they’ve even hit their first awful tee shot, then I’d say we’re doing something right.

Hopefully tomorrow involves golf.

If not…

There’s always the office window.
