No Golf Today… But Big Things Are Happening at Dog Shot Golf

Another day. Another scorecard with absolutely nothing written on it.

No golf today, but for good reason.

Both Dude and Cheese had football tournaments, and as coach of Cheese’s team it was one of those mornings where you’re carrying cones, shouting encouragement, tying boot laces and wondering how kids have enough energy to sprint for hours. Great fun, but it didn’t leave much time for chasing golf balls into the woods.

The afternoon was a completely different challenge.

Instead of holding a golf club, I spent hours staring at lines of code.

I’ve been building a brand-new page for Dog Shot Golf. The basics are finally working, which is a minor miracle considering I’m definitely not a web developer. It’s still very rough around the edges, but it’s the start of something that I genuinely think could become a brilliant feature for the golfing community.

Learning to code wasn’t exactly on my golfing bucket list.

Every time I fix one thing, two more break. Click one button… white screen. Fix that… another button disappears. It’s basically the website equivalent of hitting a perfect drive, only to chunk your wedge into the nearest bunker.

So yes, there was no golf today.

But hopefully this work means that Dog Shot Golf becomes even better for golfers who love the game, don’t take themselves too seriously and enjoy a laugh just as much as a birdie. If I can pull this off, missing one day’s golf will be more than worth it.

And yes…

Still no Sherpa applications.

Apparently carrying clubs, filming terrible golf, reminding me where I left my putter and pretending my tee shot definitely bounced back into the fairway isn’t as attractive a job as I imagined.

Applications remain open.

Building More Than Just Golf Clothing

One thing I’ve realised over the last few weeks is that Dog Shot Golf isn’t just becoming another golf clothing brand.

There are enough companies making polos and caps.

What I really want to build is a place where everyday golfers come for funny golf stories, relatable golf blogs, honest product reviews, videos, community banter and clothing that celebrates the fact most of us aren’t shooting under par any time soon.

Good golf is impressive.

Bad golf is relatable.

We’d Love Your Ideas

This website is growing because of you lot.

So tell me…

What would make Dog Shot Golf even better?

A new feature on the website?

A weekly golf challenge?

A way for everyone to submit their best (or worst) golf moments?

More funny golf blogs?

Something completely bonkers that only golfers would understand?

Drop your ideas in the comments or send us a message. Some of the best ideas usually start with someone saying, “This might be stupid…”

Those are normally my favourite ones.
