Where the Hell Have We Been?
If you’ve been wondering where we’ve disappeared to, don’t worry… we haven’t finally given up golf and taken up something sensible.
The last few weeks have been absolute carnage.
Every spare minute has gone into finishing the Dog Shot Golf app – our gloriously unnecessary alternative scoring system for the world’s most unnecessary golfers.
It’s proper golf for proper idiots.
Forget Stableford. Forget medals. Forget pretending that snap-hooking one into the next postcode “didn’t count because it hit a tree.”
This is about the stuff that actually matters.
Who’s spent the most time in the woods.
Who’s bought the round.
Who’s managed to hit the wrong fairway… twice.
Who’s talked a big game on the first tee before producing a shot that deserves its own crime reference number.
We’ve also been building all the extra bits that make the app even more ridiculous. Badges to earn, stories to generate, excuses to create, drinking fines, leaderboards, annual subscription goodies… basically all the bolt-ons and add-ons that make a terrible round of golf far more memorable than a good one.
It’s taken far longer than expected, mainly because every new feature sparked another stupid idea we couldn’t resist adding.
The good news?
We’re finally seeing daylight.
Which means it’s time to stop staring at code and start staring at topped tee shots again.
My own clubs have been gathering dust while I’ve been sat behind a keyboard convincing a computer that hitting three trees and a bunker before finding the fairway should definitely be worth an achievement badge.
Hopefully that’s changing now.
The plan is simple: get back out there, get a few more rounds under the belt, put the app through some proper on-course abuse, and, most importantly, remind everyone that no matter how much technology we build…
…nothing can stop a golfer from making an absolute dog shot.
See you on the first tee.
(Probably buying the beers.)
